Offset Yoyos now at the Motmot Shop!
We are beyond stoked to carry Offset yoyos at the Motmot Shop! It’s been a pretty amazing experience to watch Offset start out as a small boutique yoyo brand into one of the largest and most popular yoyo makers in the world. When I restarted my yoyo hobby in 2018, Brandon Vu’s videos were essential watching. He posted tutorials, yoyo reviews, contest footage, maintenence videos, and everything else related to yoyo. Brandon Vu, along with a few other yoyo video creators; Dylan Kowalski, Jeremy “Mr. Yoyothrower” McKay, Nate Martsolf, Thomas “Throws and Brews” Velto, and Tristan “Tok Yo-Yo” Mathers and others, made yoyo videos that were essential watching for someone getting back into the hobby. All of these video creators had something in common, they were serious hobbyists who felt passionately about yoyos, and dedicated serious time to making videos about yoyo. Some were competitors, and some were sponsored players, and some were just dedicated hobbyists.
However, along the way Brandon Vu started a small yoyo brand called Offset, and he made his first yoyo, the Outlier, and documented the process of making a yoyo from start to finish. Then Brandon really got a handle on how to use social media, and picked up over a million followers on Youtube, and Offset has gradually become on of the most in demand yoyo brands in the world.
During the World Yoyo Contest in 2025, I had a chance yo chat with Brandon and his team, Allon and Xavier, and the possibility of stocking Offset started to become a reality. It took a while, certian things were out of stock, and I had to deal with the beginning of a new school year and juggling the Motmot Shop and my teaching job. Our first order took a bit longer than expected, but it’s here now, and we are proud to have a few releases from Offset in the shop. If they sell well, the plan is to gradually add more Offset to our catalogue, so it’s up to you all!
First up is the Deviant Plus, which is one of Offset’s flagship models that manages to deliver awesome performance at a great price. The Deviant Plus is a monometal yoyo, that has really exceeded my expectations, and the Deviant Plus has a great feel to it, and will definitely help you land those bangers. The Deviant plus is a competition focused yoyo, that falls inline with modern competition specs: Width: 50.0 mm Diameter: 57.0 mm Weight 65 g. It feels a touch lighter than 65g, but the weight is spot on, and has enough power to to deliver a long spin time and can get through those long combos with ease, and the extra wide gap width will help you land those big scoring tricks. What’s really incredible is that at 50mm the Deviant Plus is super stable, and just has a nice feel to it, and it binds perfectly every time. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for an extra wide mono-metal that won’t break the bank.
Next up is the Xenon Prime, the signature yoyo from Xavier Ng! Xavier has been cleaning it up on the competitive scene, being the 3 time Singapoeran yoyo champion, and taking 5th at the World Yoyo Competition, (while also taking 1st at the semi-finals at Worlds!)
The first thing you might notice is that the Xenon Prime is extra wide; 60mm wide to be exact, the Xenon Prime is a behemoth, made from a 6061 aluminium body with steel rings and pom rims. The Xenon Prime weighs 67.5g so it’s got some serious power, but it plays really light on the string, and for a yoyo so wide, it’s got great stability. The extra-width will help you hit those bangers on stage and will really help make horizontal tricks a bit easier, and the pom rims will add a layer of protection. The Xenon Prime will halp take you to the top!
Last but certainly not least is the Limitless! The Limitless is the free-spinning-outer-shell yoyo from Offset, if you think it’s similar to the Yoyofactory Nine Dragons you would be correct However, the Limitless is not a simply a clone of the Nine Dragons, it has a few unique features that sets it apart. The shape is a bit more managable, especially for smaller hands, so kids have an easier time playing with it. The shape is a mix of organic and “W” shapes which make it a bit more comfortable in the hand. The inner “yo-yo” iis made from polycarbonate, sothe Limitless costs significantly less that the Nine Dragons. The Limitless makes all kinds of new tricks possible, the sky is the limit!
