A list of my favorite yoyo channels, part 1.

I get a lot of questions of what are my favorite yoyo video channels, and where to find good yoyo tutorials and other yoyo related media, so I am compiling a list of some of the yoyo channels that I have enjoyed over the years and some of the yoyo trick creators who have influenced me! This will be a multi-part entry, otherwise it will end up being a very long entry.
So without further ado…

Doctor Popular, has to be my first mention, Doc has invented so many tricks we take for granted, Skin the Gerbil, Gyroscopic Flop, Gondola, Branding, and a gazillion more. Doc has also contributed so much to the yoyo hobby, his Popcast series has been going for many years, and his channel was one of the very first that I came across when I started getting back into yoyo. Doc doesn’t just have turorials, he has interviews, yo-yo history, videos about his other interests and life in the Bay Area.
I really like the way that Doc doesn’t just teach a trick but teach a trick concept that you can play around with and make your own variations. The tricks featured usually have beginner to advanced variations, and can really help a beginner expend their trick set, and give advanced players some ideas to play with.

Recess Yoyos Youtube channel goes way back, and there is an absolute treasure trove of yoyo related videos to dig through. Recess is run by world yoyo champ Tyler Severance who has been a fixture in the yoyo scene for nearly 20 years, Tyler’s depth of yoyo knowledge is absolutely incredible, and it really becomes apparent while watching his longer videos. The Recess channel has a wide number of tutorials for every skill level, and Tyler is also an expert at breaking down tricks and explaining how they work.
The Recess Yoyo channel also features Tyler’s long running yoyo chat show The Goods, with long time co-conspirator Jake Bullock where you can really learn waaay to much about yoyo.
